Blooming

Mixed media on wood and real lavender
(50cmx70cm)

Lavender coming out of this character's chest, bursting, blooming. All the anxiety and depression has finally come out, and not as rotten as she thought it was on the inside, when she couldn't see it. Instead, she has learnt that all those things that scared her, that she was afraid to explain or show, are in reality just as beautiful, normal and part of her as any other thing in her body.

Trying to reach for salvation, while struggling with mental health, this hand just wants to stay alive, trying to look for brightness up above.

Reach Out 2/2

Floating.jpg

Floating

Mixed media on wood

(50cm x 50 cm)

Self portrait.

The movement of the hair lifted by the wind next to fish “flying” around the figure are both represented as restless thoughts without a shared direction. These “thoughts” are trying to escape from the person’s head, which is facing the opposite direction of the viewer of this painting, trying so to “escape” the reality she is living in order to dive into her own pictorial world.

Raven

Mixed media on wood

(50cmx50cm)

A black crow, shouting into the emptiness around all the space provided in the canvas. The eje, white, manifesting it’s been lifeless for a long time, so the shouts will be useless.

Swimming.jpg

Swimming

Acrylics on wood (36cm x 17,5cm)

Lake creatures in a sea full of thoughts, in the wrong place. Thoughts in the wrong place, swimming way too much around the same point, on the same thought, anxious, with questions, without being able to stop searching for answers to things that don’t need any.

Holding hands

Acrylics on wood (83cm x 20,5cm)

In search for salvation inside a sea full of solitude that only a loved one with the kindness and warmth of their hand can give you. This piece was done during the quarantine of March 2020, and is trying to represent the lack of affection that most of us suffered during the lockdown applied by the government where none of us could see or hug our loved ones. It’s a search for salvation towards the depression that a lot of us suffered during this lockdown produced by a worldwide pandemic. Some of us where only in need for a hand to save us from the solitude of the walls around us.

Anxiety

Mixed media on wood (50cm x 50cm)

After going through depression and anxiety, being officially diagnosed with anxiety and obsession disorders, it makes you understand even more your interior self. This artwork focus where anxiety  normally physically manifests, with a burning sensation, discomfort and pain on chest and throat. Making a person feel suffocated and about to break down completely. We need to start raise awareness and not putting a difference between physical and mental health, since even though mental health is not as visible as physical health, it has the same impact on our body.

Honeycomb.jpg

Honeycomb

Acrylics on wood (83cm x 20,5cm)

Working bees looking for knowledge inside a restrictive honeycomb that is provided without taking into consideration the exterior world, thinking all they have in front of them is all they have and don’t deserve anything else.

flowing.jpg

Flowing

Acrylics on wood(81cm x 64cm)

Flowing, nowhere. In her most pure existence, naked. Her eyes closed so she can experience everything when she is on her own.

Dreams and Thoughts

Watercolours on paper (18,5cm x 25,5cm)

Like in some of my other artworks, the fish is represented as thoughts that sometimes are too much, to the point where you have to close your eyes not wanting to open them anymore. Always moving, restless, without knowing where to go, they start to become way to many to be able to manage them on your own and without someone helping you to organise them and lose the fear of wearing them as yours.

Dreams.jpg

Lake creatures

Acrylics on wood (83cm x 20,5cm)

Lake creatures representing, like some of my other work, the restless thoughts but in fresh water, where they are not trying to suffocate but they do it meaning no harm, by accident. Trying to reach for the exit, they look for the current, without knowing where to find the answers they wish to know without even knowing what or how to ask the questions.
